The idea isn't as far-fetched as you might think. In fact, the Environmental Club at Montclair State University was just awarded an Honorable Mention by the U.S. Green Building Council New Jersey Chapter (USGBC NJ) for its 13th Annual Emerald Awards.

The Environmental Club at Montclair State University's Sustainability Center will be awarded an Honorable Mention at the U.S. Green Building Council New Jersey Chapter's 13th Annual Emerald Awards on Oct. 30 at MSU. Pictured is their model of an eco-friendly 'earthship,' a potential standard for sustainable homes.


USGBC NJ will present the awards on Friday, Oct. 30 at a black-tie masquerade ball at the Conference Center at MSU beginning at 5 p.m. The awards recognize companies and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and best practices in green building and sustainability....
